Having attended most of the online seminars which have been a very interesting and a good mixture of content, the ones that really stood out for me were the species conservation and climate change talks.
They highlighted the importance of the crisis we are heading toward if we don't pull together and take action. I myself had been ignorant of the urgency and seriousness of it and paid very little attention before coming to Bangor to study.
I have made changes in what I add to my open fire at home. Coal and non-kiln dried wood is no longer welcome through my door, not only is it bad for our planet, they are listed as a group 1 carcinogens, I had no idea until recently whilst I was researching cancer causing helminths for an essay.
I already try to limit my own consumerism too, I buy used or second hand where possible. I have worked out the wattage of all gadgets at home and how much electricity I use, I am now in the process of limiting my energy usage.

My favourite talk was the 'Tiny Forests' and I would really love to get involved with something like this or even project management for the conservation of species. I haven't quite decided yet.
I have been looking online at conservation vacancies to see what is out there and I was surprised to see quite a lot of jobs advertised, something which has surprised me with the ongoing pandemic.
What I need to do right now is concentrate on the work I have to do to finish my degree. I have a little breathing space because I already have a job which will keep me going until I find what it is I shall apply for.
I will miss Bangor University, the friends I made and the surrounding area as I only had the chance to spend half of my course there before Covid-19 put a stop to it.
I have some great memories of bringing my little bantam hen Lucy with me who spent 4 months of year 2 camping with me at the Ogwen Valley, sadly she's passed now.
